The digital transformation (referred to by the acronym DX) landscape in maintenance and asset management is evolving at a rapid pace and bringing forth a multitude of opportunities such as reducing Opex, increasing the consistency of asset performance, reducing timeframes, making parts procurement easier, improving user experience, increasing asset resilience and creating better IT systems.
However, DX in asset management and maintenance presents a multitude of interconnected challenges. These include organisational complexities, financial concerns, security and privacy challenges, compliance with regulations, meeting customer expectations, acquiring digital talent and assessing return on investment (ROI). Additionally, it is essential to recognise that the challenges related to digital technologies themselves play a pivotal role in shaping the journey of digital transformation. Additionally, environmental sustainability remains a growing concern.
